Who they are
Deise Marques is an architect and urban planner from São Paulo, responsible for the master plan of O Parque Brooklin — the work that defined the complex’s site layout before any tower was designed. The plot covered nearly four hectares hemmed in by the corporate heart of Brooklin, and the premise she adopted was one of urban planning, not of product: integrating the plot into the city and enriching its surroundings instead of closing it off.
Her design produced the two decisions that give the development its identity. The first is the new street — private, but open to public use —, whose layout, carriageway widths and pavements were defined in joint work with SP Urbanismo and CET. The second is the reservation of the centre of the plot for a generous green park, open to the public, around which the towers were placed. It is this concept, combined with Triptyque on the architecture and Ricardo Cardim on the landscape design, that became O Parque.
By her own account, the project was developed over several years and was born to give purpose to the plot’s different potential uses, in a region undergoing full transformation — shopping centres, universities, hotels and corporate buildings.
Language
- Style: urban planning before architecture — the master plan resolves the relationship between the plot and the city, and the architecture follows, built on an already defined concept.
