Gamaro
The developer born out of a university: half a century of education converted into land, and land converted into ambitious architecture.
Who it is
Gamaro Incorporadora was launched in 2014, but the history of the family group that created it begins in 1971, with the opening of Morumbi’s tourism college — the first of its kind in the world. In 1975 came the union with the Faculdade de Comunicação Social Anhembi, forming Anhembi Morumbi, accredited as a university in 1997 and sold in 2005 to the American group Laureate, in the first acquisition of a Brazilian university by an international entity.
From what remained of that operation came Gamaro Patrimonial (2006), to manage the educational buildings, and, almost a decade later, the developer, when one of the shareholders realised the group’s land could hold far more than classrooms. The group still runs the Teatro Gamaro, in Mooca, with 756 seats, and a foundation — the cultural and educational matrix remains the house’s founding brand.

- Positioning: mid- and high-end residential in São Paulo, with a strong drive for urban transformation and boldness of façade.
- Differentiators: a cultural and social essence declared as the company’s mission, not as a marketing add-on; projects that give something back to the city — in the portfolio’s most radical case, a restored Atlantic Forest park open to the public in the middle of the condominium; and an unusual willingness, for its size, to hire international architecture.

- O Parque Brooklin (2023, Brooklin), three towers around a walkable park, designed by Triptyque Architecture and Maison Edouard François, landscaping by Cardim Arquitetura and interiors by Carlos Rossi.
