Who it is
Juliana Freitas Paisagismo has existed since 2000 and brings together, in its track record, large-scale projects and partnerships with recognised names in Brazilian architecture and urban planning. Leading the firm is the architect and urban planner who founded it — a graduate in Architecture and Urban Planning, with postgraduate studies in Business Administration and Environmental Engineering, a background that explains the firm’s attention to both the design and the environmental performance of the garden.
Concept
- Philosophy: landscape design that treats the garden as a system, with attention to the right species in the right place — at Alta Vista Cidade Jardim, for example, the programme includes fruit-bearing areas and the biodiversity of Atlantic Forest flowers and fruits as a natural frame for the architecture.
- Awards: winner of the National Urban Landscape Competition in 2013; awarded at the Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival, in Portugal, in 2015, and at the Allariz International Garden Festival, in Spain, in 2016.
- Network: founding partner of Papo de Paisagista, a national network of landscape design professionals.
