Palazzo Monte Leone

History

From Kauffmanni, Palazzo Monte Leone is a 2001 classic in Itaim Bibii, anchored near Parque do Povoi and Shopping JK Iguatemii. It sails in the developer’s “Palazzo” fleet, alongside Palazzo Maggiorei, Palazzo Piemontei and Palazzo di Savoiai.

Architecture and aesthetics

Thirty metres of frontage on a 1,428 m² plot: in the plot equation, the Monte Leone is the opposite of its sibling Palazzo Maggiorei. Little frontage, a tower that rises close to the building line and resolves the programme vertically, not horizontally — seventeen storeys, one flat on each. It is the entire floor for a single family that allows the luxury that became the building’s trademark: a living room with fireplace, an unusual item in a São Paulo tower, and a balcony on the same axis, in floor plans ranging from 315 to 650 m². The language is the classic one of the Palazzo series, by Kauffmanni; the architectural design credit is not publicly documented and is therefore not attributed here.

Itaim Bibi: the address

Ten numbers separate the Monte Leone from the Manhattani — 1274 and 1284 — and the neighbourhood is the same for both: Shopping JK Iguatemii at 274 metres, closer than Parque do Povoi. It is the most densely built block of the Rua Leopoldo Couto de Magalhães Júniori, the most recurring street in the entire archive, and the stretch where it stops being purely residential. Living here means having luxury retail as an extension of the lobby and the helipads of the JKi towers less than two hundred metres away — the face of Itaimi where the corporate and the residential share the same pavement and nobody complains.
