History

Mazal occupies number 1272 of Alameda Lorenai, even-numbered side, at the point where the avenue crosses the residential heart of the Jardinsi between Rua Oscar Freirei and Alameda Ministro Rocha Azevedo. It’s a building of large floor plans on a block of buildings with large floor plans — the same vintage as Barão da Pedra Negra, Miami Garden, Casablancai and Eden Lorena, all next-door neighbours and all predating the recent verticalisation. The development, the construction and the authorship of the project are not documented in public sources and are not attributed here; the year of construction appears in a single registry, and for that reason this page does not fix a date.

Jardim Paulista: the address

Alameda Lorenai is one of the four great avenues that structure Jardim Paulistai, and it changes personality along its own route: it starts commercial, crosses the fashion axis of the Jardinsi and, from this point onward, becomes a residents’ street — leafy, flat, with buildings on either side and almost no through traffic. It’s here that the neighbourhood’s equation becomes clear: the flatter the land and the closer to Clube Paulistanoi, the more expensive the square metre. Rua Oscar Freirei and Estação Oscar Freirei are a few blocks away, Colégio Iavnei is in the immediate vicinity, and the street-level shops, the tree cover and the street network have been settled for decades.
