Merano

History

By AAMi, with construction by Toledo Ferrarii, architecture by Itamar Berezini, landscaping by Martha Gaviãoi and interior design by Patricia Anastassiadisi, Merano is a neoclassical 2014 development in Indianópolis/Moemai, anchored near Estação Moemai and Congonhas. With one apartment per floor, it brings hotel-standard finishes.

Architecture and aesthetics

Itamar Berezini‘s neoclassicism here isn’t resolved on the façade: it starts in the internal proportions. A three-metre ceiling height and doors of two metres thirty are measurements the current market standard has abandoned, and it’s from that height — before any finish — that the scale of the 400 m² floor plan comes. The rest of the design follows from that: a single tower on a 1,600 m² plot, one apartment per floor slab, two social lifts and one service lift, and the gourmet terrace built into the kitchen instead of hung off as a balcony. The heavy infrastructure was born in the design and wasn’t added later — biometrics, heated bathroom flooring, two staff bedrooms. Moema: the address

Two names for the same address

The lot sits on the border between Moema and Indianópolis, and both names are legitimate. The postcode registers Indianópolis; the high-end market treats the address as Moema. This page adopts the name in common use and keeps the other on file for anyone searching by it.

Two helipads within eight hundred metres say what this stretch is: number 562 on Avenida Açocê sits in the band where Moemai borders the city that works. The streets here still carry indigenous names — it’s the quadrant of the Índios, opposite the one of the birds — but the address’s yardstick isn’t greenery: Parque Ibirapuerai is over a kilometre away, a Sunday-outing distance, while Shopping Ibirapuerai is six hundred and eighty metres away and Aeroporto de Congonhasi a few minutes by car. What’s solved on foot is daily life — Estação Moemai on Line 5 – Lilac six hundred and fifty metres away, Estação AACD-Servidori a little further on, the Friday market on Rua Chaves four hundred metres away, and an early-childhood school a hundred metres away. It’s the half of Moemai that handles the whole day within the block and leaves the park for the weekend.
