Nube

History

By Idea!Zarvosi, a boutique developer of authorial projects, with architecture by Jacobseni, Nube is a design-driven residential building on the border between Jardim Europai and Itaimi. It was the first residential tower the studio designed and built from start to finish: in previous work, Jacobsen itself says, it adapted façades and interior concepts to existing structures; here it had control of the site’s occupation from the very first line. Completed in 2021, it has very few units.

Architecture and aesthetics

The façade is made of openings. The window frames are generous, almost porthole-like, and the reason lies on the other side: Nube leans out over the green canopy of Jardim Europai — a clear, rare view in a dense neighbourhood, and protected by the low rise the neighbour has kept. A brise-soleil runs over the glass, a layer that handles sun and privacy without closing off the landscape. There are 5,130 m² of built area across fifteen storeys, the scale of a street building rather than an avenue tower, and the interiors of the common areas are by the studio itself. Itaim Bibi: the address

Two names for the same address

The plot sits on the border between Itaim Bibi and Jardim Europa, and both names are legitimate. The postcode registers Jardim Europa; the high-end market treats the address as Itaim Bibi. This entry adopts the name in use and keeps the other for anyone searching by it.

Rua André Fernandes is one of the cross streets that stitch Itaimi to Jardim Europai: on one side, the vertical, corporate neighbourhood; on the other, blocks of wide streets, houses and trees, in a layout that stayed mostly low-rise while Itaim went up. Number 175 sits on the side facing the greenery — that is where the building’s view comes from, and it is the neighbour’s low density that sustains it. Iguatemii is a little over seven hundred metres away and Parque do Povoi about seven hundred and eighty, but the most characteristic walk from here is neither: it is the loop around the block, under the trees.
