History

Architecture and aesthetics

The decision that organises the project is one of layout, not façade: the balconies were all turned to face the same side, the greenery of Parque Ibirapuerai, so that the noble face of the plan looks onto the park and the rest sits behind it. Rua Bueno Brandão is one of the short cross streets that stitch through the heart of Vila Nova Conceiçãoi, and number 134 sits in the lower stretch, the one that still belongs to the park — four hundred and fifty metres’ walk to Parque Ibirapuerai. What characterises this block is the density of services within walking distance: two units of Escola Nova Lourençoi less than two hundred metres away, the Martim Francisco state school at two hundred and twenty, and Hospital São Luizi just over four hundred. It is a stretch of the neighbourhood that handles both routine and emergencies on foot — and that, being a short cross street, sits outside the through-traffic of the long avenues alongside it.
