History

Les Jardins is a top-tier residential building completed in August 1988, a single 15-storey tower on a plot of ~1,780 m², on Rua Tucumã, in the heart of Jardim Europa. It became established as a traditional address thanks to its generous floor areas (250 to 365 m², 3 to 4 bedrooms, 4 parking spaces) and complete amenities — heated indoor pool with a 25 m lane, spa, gym and sports court —, facing the Clube Pinheiros and a short walk from the Iguatemi.

Architecture and aesthetics

Classically expressed, the building carries the floorplan repertoire of the 1988 vintage: a large living room, balcony or terrace, whirlpool bath and full staff quarters, in layouts from 245 to 365 m² that reach duplex format. What defines it, however, is external. Set on a 1,780 m² plot facing Esporte Clube Pinheirosi, the building orients its living rooms and balconies towards the one neighbour unlikely to grow taller: the club’s lawn gives the building an open frontage that no setback of its own could buy, and it is this that sustains the view all the way to the skyline. Sources describe the building as classic; the architectural project’s authorship is not publicly documented and, for that reason, is not credited here — the same applying to the interiors and landscaping credits.

Jardim Europa: the address

This is the Jardim Europai of the core — the neighbourhood proper, not one of its edges. Rua Tucumãi, at number 331, is far from the two green fringes: 457 metres from the edge of Parque Bruno Covasi, 517 from Parque do Povoi. In return it is 465 metres from Iguatemii and right next to Esporte Clube Pinheirosi. It is the difference between one slice of the neighbourhood and another: those living by the river organise their day around a public park and a rail line; those living here organise it around the club and Faria Limai, with the garden-suburb of the Companhia City — horizontal, of large houses and plots — starting at the corner behind. The everyday greenery here is not a park: it is the club’s lawn and the tree-lined avenues that the original subdivision laid out from the start.
