History

By Construtora São José, with architecture by William Simonato in the house standard, St. Patrick belongs to the builder’s “St.” line, in Jardim Europa, with views over the green deck of Parque do Povo, a step from Clube Pinheiros. With one flat per floor, it follows the line’s standard, with spacious layouts and complete leisure facilities, a neighbourhood sibling of St. Louis.

  • Concept: the low-density, high-end standard of the “St.” line, with one resident per floor, in Jardim Europa.
  • Not to be confused with: this is the St. Patrick in Jardim Europa, on Rua Frederic Chopin — one of the buildings in Construtora São José‘s “St.” line, a neighbourhood sibling of St. Louis. There is a second building with a similar name, Saint Patrick, on Rua Domingos Leme, in Vila Nova Conceição, with no documented builder: they are homonyms, with no relation to each other.

Architecture and aesthetics

Contemporary and high-end, St. Patrick is less a standalone project than an edition of the “St.” line — the standard that William Simonato developed for Construtora São José and repeated at neighbouring addresses: single tower, one flat per floor, a 25-metre lane and lean leisure facilities, made of large pieces rather than a long list. What singles out this edition is the ground: 4,898 m² of plot for a single tower. It is the plot’s slack that keeps the building away from the boundaries and, on the other side, sustains the open view over Parque do Povo that every 454 m² layout promises. The interior design and landscaping credits are not publicly documented and are therefore not attributed here.

Jardim Europa: the address

Two names for the same address

The plot sits on the border between Jardim Europa and Jardim Paulistano, and both names are legitimate. The postcode registers Jardim Paulistano; the high-end market treats the address as Jardim Europa. This entry adopts the name in common use and keeps the other for anyone searching for it.

On Rua Frederic Chopin, the street where Jardim Europa went vertical, number 240 is the one that best keeps the land scale of before: 4,898 m² of plot, the measure of the lot that the Companhia City opened for houses, not towers. The effect is urban before it is private — the block keeps the void that the original subdivision anticipated. Add to that Parque do Povo at 150 metres and the edge of Parque Bruno Covas at 201, and the address ends up with two gardens it did not need to keep within its own walls. That is the difference between this stretch and the neighbourhood’s horizontal core, which climbs Rua Tucumã towards Esporte Clube Pinheiros: there, the green is private and walled; here, it is public and three minutes’ walk away.
