Jardim Paulista: the address

Rua José Maria Lisboai is one of Jardim Paulistai‘s backbones — it crosses the whole neighbourhood and changes character along the way. In the upper stretch, near Alameda Casa Brancai, it is a street of houses and boutique buildings with one apartment per floor, and that is where the archive concentrates most of the street’s addresses. Here, at number 46, the street is different: it is at its start, where it meets Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antônioi, on a mixed-scale stretch where the neighbourhood borders Bela Vistai and the hospital corridor of Rua da Consolaçãoi. It is a block of narrow parcels — the register lists neighbours of 108, 137 and 143 m² —, which means any new tower there is born of assemblage and that the occupation pattern is changing. The address’s convenience is that of a hinge point rather than a heartland: metro, Avenida Paulistai and Parque Augustai nearby, with the quiet of the upper street a few blocks away rather than on the doorstep.
