Contemplare Pacaembu

History

Contemplare Pacaembu was set up as a condominium in December 2010, the date the Federal Revenue Service records for the opening of the building’s tax ID and which market databases confirm as the year of construction. The tax plot measures 891 m² and, in the city’s 2007 aerial photogrammetric survey, still held only low buildings — none above eleven metres: the tower is later. The authorship of the project is not documented in an independent public source and, for that reason, is not attributed here.

• Concept: few, very large units — from 235 to 416 m², with four to six parking spaces — in a single tower on an 891 m² plot, on a residential, tree-lined street.
• Trivia: the building is called Pacaembu but has its address in Perdizesi. It is nobody’s mistake: number 35 sits at the start of Rua Bartira, on the block that stitches the two neighbourhoods together. The postcode and the Federal Revenue registry say Perdizes; the christened name looked the other way, across the corner.

Perdizes: the address

Perdizesi is a traditional, residential neighbourhood in the western zone, valued for its greenery, its neighbourhood life and a university and cultural character that few high-end neighbourhoods have — PUC, TUCA, the traditional colleges and Allianz Parque are all inside it. Rua Bartira runs through the residential core and, on its first block, meets the listed Pacaembui: it is a position of dual citizenship, with the shops, schools and Feira do Pacaembu on one side and the protected neighbourhood on the other. Parque da Água Brancai and Avenida Paulistai are both a few minutes away by car, in opposite directions.
