Tamboré 2
In Tamboré, a gated development of 321 addresses built on the land of the former Fazenda Tamboré. It comprises 686,000 square metres of walled land, of which more than a third will never be built on — the green area is a clause in the plan, not a brochure promise.

History
Tamboré 2 is the second of the residential developments opened by Tamboré SA on the former Fazenda Tamboré, a rural estate that belonged to the Álvares Penteado and Ulhôa Rodrigues families. The company was founded in the 1960s precisely to plan the occupation of that land, in a movement parallel to that of Alphaville, which was being born a few kilometres ahead, in Barueri. The house’s first development, Tamboré 1, came in 1988 — 1.8 million square metres, plots of 1,000 to 5,000 m² — and its success drove the two that followed, this Tamboré 2 and Tamboré 3. Tamboré 2 is a product of that momentum: 321 residential plots spread across 686,103.48 m², with 245,633.45 m² set aside as preserved green area. In an estate development the date marker is not the occupancy permit, but the implementation — and on that point public sources only place the opening of Tamboré 2 in the wake of the first, without fixing a year; for that reason none is fixed here.
- Concept: a large plot and an architect-designed house within a single perimeter, with the greenery treated as infrastructure — not as leftover land.
- Curiosities: more than a third of the estate (245,633.45 m² of 686,103.48 m²) is green area that cannot be built on. Access is through a single point, via Praça da China, with separate social and service gatehouses. And the condominium does not sell architecture: it sells land. Each house is designed by its own resident, which over four decades has turned Tamboré 2 into an open-air showcase for São Paulo’s high-end architecture firms.
Architecture and aesthetics
An estate development has no façade — it has a plan. The design of Tamboré 2 is urban before it is architectural: paved streets, kerbs and gutters, stormwater drainage, water and sewage networks, piped gas, public lighting and street landscaping, all delivered before the first house went up. The aesthetics came later, and came from outside. Since each plot is built by its own owner, the condominium’s repertoire is the sum of the architecture firms hired since the 1980s — from the classic style of the first generation to the horizontal boxes of glass, marble and stone that dominate the recent wave, almost always laid out in an L-shape to turn their back on the street and open everything to the garden.

Tamboré: the address
Tamboré is the quieter half of the pairing that dominates the ultra-high-end market west of São Paulo. It was born of the same farmland that gave rise to Alphaville, grew alongside it and ended up sharing shops, international schools, private hospitals and the business district with its neighbour — but kept its own identity: fewer towers, more plots. The neighbourhood is split between Santana de Parnaíba and Barueri, and the connection to the capital runs via the Rodovia Castello Branco, the Rodoanel Mário Covas and the marginal expressways, with Shopping Tamboré and Iguatemi Alphaville a few minutes from the gatehouse.
